Srinagar, Jun 17 (KNO): An engineer from Srinagar has been following her passion for calligraphy as it gives her “peace of mind”. Saiqa Rashid, working as Assistant Engineer in the Power Development Department (PDD), while talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said she has been following her passion apart from attending to duties and managing the family. “Calligraphy has been my hobby and passion since childhood. After I got settled, I started giving more time to my hobby,” she said, adding, “My kids are also enjoying it.” Saiqa said it is very important to give your thoughts the right direction rather than sitting idle at home which gives way to negative thinking. She said people must learn how to grow up in any field and live a positive life. “If you are sitting idle, you will spend more time on mobile and may get involved in wrong activities or activities with zero output,” she said. Whatever I have to write in calligraphy, I research a bit about it and that helps me in learning more things, she said. “I have participated in several calligraphy exhibitions and have sold dozens of pieces. I am very much satisfied with my work as it gives me peace of mind.” In her message to the youth, Saiqa said, “Don't waste your time in futile exercises. Professions are not limited to engineers and doctors; there are hundreds of options for youth to make their name. And, being a government employee doesn't mean you don't have your dreams. Calligraphy is my hobby and passion. One shouldn't sacrifice passion for anything.”—(KNO)
